With home improvement more popular than ever, RTÉ’s Room to Improve is back with a bang on our TV screens this autumn, and WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical waste and battery recycling, is sponsoring the new six-part series.

Santa paid a very special visit to Mullingar Civic Offices on Wednesday to help the European Recycling Platform (ERP), launch its Christmas Appeal in Westmeath. ERP and Westmeath County Council invited children to visit Santa in his grotto and bring their used batteries and broken WEEE toys (Waste Electrical and Electronic) along for recycling. On the day 278 children visited Santa and an incredible 36kg of WEEE toys was recycled and 46kg of batteries were recycled, which is the equivalent of over 1,840 AA batteries.
